Activision Blizzard President Leaves Company to Lead the Bored Ape NFT

There are a lot of great things to look forward to in the world of eSports and I’m really excited for what’s coming down the line. I’m especially excited for the new NFT from Bored Ape. After all, this is a very exciting project that has a lot of potential, and it’s really nice to see that a big name like Activision Blizzard is helping out.

Daniel Alegre

Activision Blizzard president Daniel Alegre has decided to leave the company in March and move to become the CEO of Yuga Labs. He is leaving as his contract with the company ends in 2023.

Alegre, a 16-year Google veteran, was named president of the company in 2020. He previously worked as its chief operating officer. He helped to build the Call of Duty brand and oversaw the development of World of Warcraft. He was also involved in the Candy Crush franchise.

Currently, Alegre is working with Yuga’s co-founders Wylie Aronow and Greg Solano on the company’s latest venture, Otherside. The gamified metaverse is inspired by MMORPGs and is set to launch in 2022. The company recently acquired Beeple’s Web3 ecosystem WENEW.

Otherside

Daniel Alegre, the former Activision Blizzard president and COO, is leaving the company to start a new venture as CEO of Yuga Labs. He will be taking over the top post at the video game startup in 2023.

He joins Yuga after spending sixteen years at Google, where he served as the executive in charge of its global retail business. During his tenure at Google, he also helped develop the Call of Duty, Candy Crush, and Overwatch brands.

He’s no stranger to the world of crypto. He’s worked for both Andreessen Horowitz and Larva Labs, and was the head of Google’s global retail operations. He will use his gaming background to help lead Yuga’s efforts.

Alegre will start at Yuga in early 2023. He’ll take over the role of CEO from Nicole Muniz, who will remain on as a strategic advisor.

Unionizing QA testers

The quality assurance testers at Activision Blizzard studio in Albany, NY have decided to form a union. The QA department at the studio is asking for better compensation and improved benefits. A group of the quality assurance staff at the studio has announced plans to join the Game Workers Alliance, which is a union affiliated with the Communications Workers of America.

The QA team at Activision Blizzard has been facing backlash over the past year. They’ve been laying off employees and dealing with misconduct. They’ve also received a pay increase.

But the company has retaliated against the QA team for their union efforts. The QA staff is a critical part of video game development. They’re responsible for testing gameplay and writing detailed reports about major crashes and glitches.

Crypto meltdowns haven’t stalled Yuga Labs

There’s been a lot of talk about cryptocurrency meltdowns. They have certainly sucked the life out of the market, but it’s important to understand that they weren’t the reason for their demise. Instead, these meltdowns have served as a wake-up call for investors. Unlike the ‘Great Recession’, this time around banks are in good shape. Nevertheless, it’s no secret that the cryptosphere hasn’t always been a stable place.

The first major crash happened last month, when Luna, an ill-advised foray into the digital currency world by founder and former Google employee Ryan Wyatt, went south. In its aftermath, the broader crypto market lost nearly 20 percent of its value. The resulting tumult led to the creation of Tezos, a more environmentally friendly alternative to Ethereum.

Getting started with the NFT

If you’re interested in getting started with the Bored Ape NFT, there are some things you should know. The Bored Ape Yacht Club is an online NFT collection. There are a total of 10,000 NFTs in the collection. The collection can be owned, but each owner has full commercial rights.

In order to own one, you need to invest in Ethereum. Once you have the currency, you can buy a Bored Ape. However, the price of a single ape is quite high. For example, a rare version of the ape sold for nearly $422,000 in the open market.

Since the launch of the project, the value of the NFTs has skyrocketed. Some celebrities have purchased the NFTs. For instance, NBA superstar Steph Curry bought an Ape for $180,000. Similarly, NFL quarterback Tom Brady joined the Bored Ape ecosystem.
